Role as Head of Year:

As Head of Year, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the pastoral care and personal development of students in Year 7 or Year 8. Alongside your leadership responsibilities, you will continue to teach in your subject specialism, making a direct impact both academically and pastorally.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Overseeing the academic progress, wellbeing, and behaviour of students in Year 7 or 8
  • Leading and mentoring a team of form tutors to ensure high standards of pastoral care
  • Implementing strategies to promote student engagement, resilience, and personal growth
  • Supporting transition for new Year 7 students or guiding Year 8 students towards KS4 success
  • Working closely with SLT, parents, and external agencies to provide holistic student support
  • Teaching high-quality lessons in your subject specialism and contributing to department development
